"The inclusive approach towards all members of the school
community makes students feel valued. Care, guidance
and support are good. Effective links with partner Primary
Schools ensure a smooth transition for Year 7 students."
Ofsted, 2008
We have a well established Sixth Form at Lysander Community High School.
There are a range of opportunities incorporating traditional A Level subjects and vocational courses.
Two year courses leading to GCE at AS/A2 level or BTEC National are currently offered in:
Three year access courses combining a Level 2 course with a Level 3 course are currently offered in either Public Services or Health & Social Care (Level 2) with Business Studies (Level 3).
The majority of students choose the equivalent of two or three A levels before going on to follow degree courses in Higher Education or entering management training in industry and commerce.
Students also have the opportunity to seek accreditation in General Studies.
Our aim is to meet the individual requirements of each student, enabling them to retain breadth in their studies but at the same time ensuring that they gain the specialist qualifications for successful entry to Higher Education or employment.
